Performance Compared

The first category in which we'll compare these three luxury sedans is performance. Standard power for both the Audi A4 and A5 Sportback comes in the form of a balanced 40 TFSI® (2.0T) 4-cylinder with 201 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. Both also come paired with a seven-speed S tronic® dual-clutch automatic transmission. For A4 and A5 Sportback shoppers craving additional power, drivers can upgrade to an optional 45 TFSI® (2.0T) 4-cylinder with 261 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.

On the other hand, the Audi A6 receives the 45 TFSI® as standard. However, only the A6 can be optioned with an available 55 TFSI® (3.0T) 6-cylinder with 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. One commonality between all three models is the legendary quattro® all-wheel drive system. Interior Dimensions Compared

When it comes to the interior dimensions of these three Audi sedans, you'll notice several key differences. The A4 and A5 Sportback are very closely related, as evident when you compare their interior headroom and legroom dimensions. They also share a similar wheelbase. However, the unique liftback configuration of the A5 Sportback results in greater rear cargo space. Conversely, their larger A6 sibling boasts greater interior space in both the first and second rows of seating. It's important to note that despite their individual differences, all three remain exceptional choices for luxury shoppers who crave the latest comfort features and agile handling characteristics.

Choosing an Audi luxury sedan means that you can enjoy industry-leading technology, safety, and comfort features. The A4, A5 Sportback, and A6 each come standard with the groundbreaking Audi MMI® infotainment system with revolutionary connectivity features including optional connected navigation. Another optional feature available on all three models is the stunning Audi Virtual Cockpit display featuring customizable readouts and high-definition views of critical drive information. Genuine leather upholstery is also found on all three sedans with several upgrades including both heating and cooling functions. When it comes to driver assistance, available Audi pre-sense city and basic provide an additional layer of confidence and peace of mind behind the wheel. Other Variants

The sedans we've been discussing here are just the jumping-off point for the A4, A5, and A6 models, with several other variants of each available. Starting with the A4, we have the A4 allroad®, which features a wagon body, lower body cladding, and slightly raised suspension. It's an understated alternative to a crossover that offers all of the same functionality with the seating position of a sport sedan. There is also an A6 allroad®, which is very much the same idea, but larger. The A5 has no allroad® variant, but it makes up for it by coming in Sportback bodystyle, which we already mentioned, as well as A5 Coupe, and A5 Cabriolet varieties. These are exactly what their names imply, a two-door hardtop body and a two-door soft-top convertible.

In addition to the different body styles, Audi also makes performance versions of all three models. These come in two varieties, the S and the RS. RS models are the most highly-tuned, wringing the most power out of the engine and chassis. They might look a lot like their mainstream counterparts, but the S variants find their home somewhere between the base model and the RS - sacrificing some performance for added practicality, ride quality, and affordability.

The A4 has an S variant, but only for the sedan body, there are no performance allroad® models. The S4 comes with a turbocharged V6 engine that produces 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque - enough to get to 60mph in 4.4 seconds. The S5 comes with the same engine as the S4, but is available in all three body types. So there is an S5 Coupe, and S5 Sportback, and an S5 Cabriolet. Finally, the S6 also comes with a V6 engine, but here it makes 444 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque.

RS variants are the most rare, and while there is no RS 4, there are two varieties of RS 5, the RS 5 Coupe and the RS 5 Sportback. These both come with the same 444 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque as the S6, but packaged in a smaller body, that powertrain accelerates the RS 5 models from 0 to 60 in just 3.7 seconds. Last up is the RS 6 Avant. The Avant is more like a traditional wagon, without the raised suspension or body cladding of the allroad® quattro®. This variant is powered by a twin-turbo V8, and produces 621 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, enough for a truly staggering 3.3-second 0-60 time.
